Hello, I'm Jan
I design enterprise software for the moment when “it works” is no longer good enough.
For more than 20 years, I have worked across UX, visual design, web development, product thinking, information architecture, accessibility, branding, and customer experience. My work has lived mostly in complex software environments: enterprise platforms, e-commerce, government systems, financial workflows, cybersecurity products, media subscriptions, developer portals, and internal business applications.
Most recently, I spent seven years as a Principal UX Designer at Oracle, working across Oracle Store and Oracle Application Labs. I analyzed user behavior, interviewed users, collaborated with product and business teams, defined requirements, designed workflows, maintained UX pattern libraries, and reviewed implementation so the finished product matched the intended experience.
I have also been an early and practical adopter of AI in both design process and customer-facing solutions. That includes work with OpenAI and Anthropic models, agentic workflows, Figma AI, and Figma Make. I am interested less in AI as a buzzword and more in what it changes: how people discover, decide, complete work, and trust the systems in front of them.
I have led and contributed to UX work at Oracle, Fannie Mae, SiriusXM, ThreatTrack Security, Monster Technologies, HP Software, and Systinet. Across those roles, I have helped modernize legacy experiences, improve workflows, support accessibility and compliance, build design practices, and make complex products easier to understand and use.
I work best where design is not treated as decoration added at the end, but as a way to make better product decisions earlier. That means asking harder questions, mapping the system behind the interface, understanding what users are really trying to accomplish, and translating that into practical, buildable solutions.
I enjoy building useful systems, mentoring designers, challenging weak assumptions, and helping teams turn complicated software into something people can actually use.
Areas I often work across:
- Enterprise UX and product design
- AI-assisted UX and agentic workflows
- E-commerce and customer experience
- Workflow analysis and information architecture
- Accessibility, Section 508, WCAG, and usability
- Visual design, brand systems, and UX patterns
- Cross-functional work with product, business, and engineering teams
